Tao Cheng

ABOUT

Dr. Cheng is an internationally recognized leader in the area of cell cycle control for stem cells. He has published more than 60 research articles, invited reviews and book chapters in hematology and stem cell biology. He has served a number of NIH study sections and many high-profile journals (e.g. Science, Nature, Nature Medicine, PNAS and Blood) as an Ad Hoc reviewer. He is an editorial board member for several international journals including Experimental Hematology and Leukemia and International Journal of Hematology.

His recent works focus on 1) Roles of cell cycle regulators (mainly the CDK inhibitors) in stem cell self-renewal. 2) Distinct molecular mechanisms of leukemic stem cells versus normal hematopoietic stem cells. 3) Stem cell protection in transplant recipients or under pathological conditions.
